How can you give a second opinion without actually seeing and examining my pet?
We are going to give our second opinion based on the information you give us, and the information in your pet’s records (available in the Comprehensive and Premium Counsels). Your veterinarian has already examined your pet and recorded the abnormalities in the records. We are going to review the records and give you our opinion on the diagnosis. We will also give you alternative diagnosis, and may suggest other tests. We will give you our opinion about the most appropriate treatments and answer all of your questions.
Who is going to give the second opinion?
A licensed veterinarian, or an American Veterinary Board Certified Specialist (depends which service you choose). Our licensed veterinarians are general practitioners. They see patients on a regular base, and have a clinical experience of at least 8 years. All our veterinarians are licensed and practice in the US. They have broad knowledge of veterinary medicine. Our board certified veterinary specialists practice veterinary medicine in their specific specialties. They usually see patients that have more complicated or unusual problems. Many of their patients are referred to them by general practitioners. Veterinary board certified specialists have advanced training in their specific discipline. Their skills and knowledge in their specific areas are evaluated and recognized by a specialty organization of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
How do you determine the prices for the service?
Your case and questions are going to be reviewed by a veterinarian or a specialist (depends which service you choose), who are very busy and qualified professionals. They are being paid for their time and their expertise. Actually, our e-consultation service is cheaper when taking into account all the costs that are involved in a second opinion. These costs include not only the veterinarian office visit, but also the trip cost, unnecessary tests that were already made and are going to be preformed again, and the cost of the some medications. We are cost conscious. We will advice you what would be the appropriate additional tests, and the best medications. We will also give you few alternatives if available. Unlike actual veterinarians who charge you for additional tests and sell you medications, we cannot do this, and therefore you can trust that our opinion is purely unbiased.
I already received a second opinion from a general practitioner. Is there any reason to have a third opinion from a specialist?
Board Certified Veterinary Specialists have advanced training in their discipline of veterinary medicine. Their skills have been evaluated and recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). They usually treat difficult and unusual cases that were referred to them by general practitioners. Therefore, it is a good practice to have a third opinion from a specialist, especially, if you are not satisfied from the second opinion that you have, or if you want to explore other diagnostics or treatment options for your pet.
How long does it take to receive the second opinion?
Basic Counsel: 3-5 days
Comprehensive Counsel: 3-5 days from the day we receive your pet’s records
Premium Counsel: 5-7 days from the day we receive your pet’s records
Why does it take so long to receive a second opinion?
As soon as we receive the questions and the records from you, we will forward them to the veterinarian or to the specialist (depends on the service you choose). It usually takes few days to review the case and email our opinion. We guarantee that you will receive an answer within 3-5 business days for the basic and comprehensive counsel, and within 5-7 business days for the premium counsel. For the Comprehensive and Premium Counsels, please make sure to tell your veterinarian to fax or email your pet’s records as soon as possible to prevent any delay.
What if I’m not satisfied?
We guarantee your satisfaction. If you are not satisfied, please email your concerns to the veterinarian that reviewed your case. If you are still not satisfied, please email to admin@vet-opinion.com
